Tips For Building A Species-Appropriate Raw Diet

At Raw Essentials, we balance a raw diet by mirroring a prey meal as closely as possible. Our goal is to meet your pet’s nutritional needs over time, rather than in every single meal, similar to how we nourish ourselves.

Our NZ-sourced raw range is simple, balanced, and created to help pets thrive.

Most pets begin with a starter mix for the first few weeks. From there, we introduce variety, at least three proteins, plus organs, green tripe (for dogs), and raw meaty bones — to build a balanced, species-appropriate diet.

KEY COMPONENTS OF A BALANCED RAW DIET

1. MINCED MIXES

Mixes contain meat, organs, bones, and green tripe. We also have meat–only minces or mixes without bone and tripe.

2. MEATY BONES

Raw meaty bones can promote greath health and are mentally stimulating. Check our bone feeding guide for more info.

3. TRIPE

Green tripe is a superfood for carnivores. It should make up about a third of the diet for dogs. Feed tripe alongside bones.

4. ORGANS

Organs are nutrient dense. Feed a variety via our organ mixes and organ treats.

5. FILLETS

Chunks and fillets of boneless meat to chew on. Especially loved by cats.

6. BROTH & TREATS

Boost up your pet’s diet with our nourishing bone broth or 100% natural raw treats.
