RABBIT DOG & CAT FOOD

Raw rabbit meat is a great protein option for cats and dogs. Our rabbit is all sourced from New Zealand. We only use wild rabbits that are shot, gutted and chilled quickly. Meaning they are as fresh as they can be. Rabbit meat is naturally low in calories, cholesterol, saturated fats and sodium, and high in vitamin B12, calcium and phosphorus. It is also highly digestible and is species appropriate - i.e. it closely resembles the natural diet of the cat or dog.

RABBIT - A NOVEL PROTEIN OPTION FOR SENSITIVE PETS

Rabbit is a novel protein which means that your cat or dog has either seldom or never been exposed to this type of food which is why it is a wonderful protein choice for pets with sensitive digestion, or allergies to other protein sources. If your pet is seeming itchy, or has some GI issues, introducing a novel protein, like rabbit, into their diet can help “reset” their system and give their immune system a break from fighting off the proteins it may be reacting to.

THE ETHICS OF RABBIT MEAT FOR PET FOOD

Rabbit is one of the best protein sources for cats and dogs. Although there is a lot of controversy around feeding rabbit meat to pets. All our raw rabbit pet food is made from wild caught New Zealand rabbits we don’t use any farmed rabbit meat.

Wild rabbits are one of the most serious agricultural and environmental pests in New Zealand.Wild rabbits compete with livestock for pasture by eating the best grass and causing extensive land damage from burrowing. Wild rabbit is also much more nutritious than farmed rabbit meat as wild rabbit forage on our natural NZ fauna. This makes them a very healthy and sustainable raw pet food option for dogs and cats.
